DMY Helps The DC Streetcar Get Moving!

Saturday, February 27, 2016 was a day of celebration in the District of Columbia as the long-awaited DC Streetcar began passenger service, and DMY helped make it happen. The DC Streetcar runs along H Street, NE, travels behind historic Union Station and continues to Benning Road at Oklahoma Avenue, NE. The design-build project included the construction of the western and eastern termini of the route, the overhead catenary that delivers power to the streetcars and the car barn at Benning Road and 26th Street, NE. The first phase included laying the track, utilities, retaining walls and associated site work and the second phase included the construction of the car barn building and maintenance yard.
DMY provided special inspections and quality control construction materials testing services which included field and laboratory testing for soil and aggregate, concrete and grout sampling and testing, and inspection of the repairs and drilled shafts for pole foundations. DMY also installed and implemented a two-level vibration monitoring program for 11 specified facilities along the project alignment.
