This project involved the construction and improvement of an existing park located on the triangle formed by the intersection of Rhode Island Ave, 9th St, and Q St NW in Washington, DC. Several large trees surround the park along Rhode Island Street NW and 9th Street NW, while smaller trees are planted along Q Street NW. The site is flat and has an elevation of EL 81 ft. The construction consisted of improving the park with a statue and memorial honoring Carter G. Woodson at its center. In addition, paver sidewalks were installed, along with a rain garden to serve as an infiltration facility for the site.
DMY’s scope of services included reviewing project information, obtaining the drilling permit from the DCRA and DDOE for field work, drilling borings and performing field infiltration tests in the cased borehole, evaluating field infiltration testing data and preparing a report.
