PROJECT COMPLETION

2018

This project consisted of new four-story construction, a wood-framed senior housing building with a footprint of approximately 28,300 square feet. The building featured slab-on-grade construction and a walkout basement (terrace) level. Two (2) terraced retaining walls were planned at the east portion of the site with a maximum total height of approximately 10 feet. DMY conducted a geotechnical investigation, which included infiltration testing for the planned stormwater management facilities and global stability analysis for the planned retaining walls. The site was entirely underlain by deep existing uncontrolled fill materials, which contained large slabs of concrete rubble. After our original geotechnical investigation was completed, DMY was requested to observe deep test pits excavated at numerous locations to further evaluate the uncontrolled fill materials. After installation of rammed aggregate piers was considered, undercut and a replacement was recommended to mitigate the uncontrolled fill materials.
