PROJECT COMPLETION

2013

DMY provided complete construction materials testing and special inspection services during the construction of this project, located at 4500 West Ox Road in Fairfax County, Virginia. The existing 15,600 SF County Animal Shelter building was renovated and expanded to approximately 29,000 SF. The building expansion housed a new adoption center with additional animal visitation areas. The new building construction was primarily masonry loadbearing walls and steel roof framing, with small additions and renovations to the existing building consisting of steel framing and light gage metal framing. Segmental block retaining walls and expansion of existing parking lots were also constructed for this project.

DMY performed field and laboratory testing on soil compaction, foundations, concrete, masonry grout, and reinforcing steel. As Special Inspections Engineer of Record (SIER), DMY also provided inspections and observations of helical pier foundation installation, structural steel construction, and steel erection and fabrication.

The project was completed on time and within budget. DMY issued a final report of special inspections upon completion of the project.
